The IBF Mark - Awarding Intranet Excellence
The IBF Mark, an initiative launched by the Intranet Benchmarking Forum (IBF) in February 2009, recognises and rewards excellence in intranet design and management.
The IBF use a comprehensive benchmarking methodology to evaluate a member’s intranet in four key areas:
- Usability
- Communication and culture
- Strategy and governance
- Metrics and performance
Members whose intranets achieve above average scores in one or more of the above areas will be awarded the IBF Mark.
The IBF Mark logo, used by a member in their web page template:
- demonstrates that an intranet has achieved an above average score in one or more of the four areas listed
- recognises the work of the intranet development team
- gives an intranet team a year on year target to work towards
- demonstrates increased user confidence in intranet’s content and services
- demonstrates the value of the intranet
- provides a metric against which to calculate return on investment
and could also:
- serve to attract a higher calibre of intranet recruit
- provide a competitive advantage through increased employee productivity.
"We see year on year improvements to members’ intranets following our benchmarking. The IBF Mark is designed to recognise and reward the achievement of our members’ intranet teams.” Paul Miller, IBF Chief Executive Officer and Founder
