To join IBF, your organisation pays an annual fee to belong to one of four membership groups. The group you apply to join will depend on your organisation’s geographical base and scope. To maintain IBF’s exclusivity, there are strict entry criteria for each group.
Membership groups
- IBF Europe is for Dow Jones STOXX 600 companies in mainland Europe, as well as organisations of similar calibre from the public sector.
- IBF North America is for Fortune 500 companies and public sector equivalents.
- IBF Asia Pacific is for Asia Pacific Top 1,000 companies and public sector equivalents.
- IBF Global is for Fortune Global 500 companies facing the challenges of managing the intranet on a global scale.
If you join any of the three regional groups, you’re entitled to be benchmarked in one area of our
benchmarking model every year, though you can choose to be benchmarked in other areas for an extra charge. If you join IBF Global, you’re entitled to be benchmarked in two areas per year (again, you can pay extra to be benchmarked in other areas). The fee for IBF Global membership is higher than for the three regional groups.
Typical membership joining process

- IBF Membership begins once payment is received.
- Receive a log-in for the IBF secure member extranet and schedule a welcome/induction session (via a Webex desktop sharing meeting).

- Receive a log-in for the IBF Member Yammer community network and begin interacting immediately with other members.
- Set up your initial benchmarking planning conversation (over the phone/Webex) with the IBF Benchmarking Program Manager to determine which area(s) of benchmarking will suit you best and when to begin the evaluation.
