About IBF

What We Do

IBF is a confidential, members-only intranet benchmarking group of around 100 leading organisations from around the world.

We are the leading authority on intranets and portals, and can give unrivalled insight into intranet best practice.

Because we are independent of any technology vendor and don’t sell consultancy services, our benchmarking findings and recommendations are impartial.

How We Do It

IBF was established in 2002 by The Empowerment Group, a UK-based organisational communication consultancy.  Since then, IBF has been helping members maximise the effectiveness and value of their intranets through benchmarking, interaction and research.

Measurement, Interaction, Best Practices

IBF has four key principles: confidentiality, exclusivity, independence and active participation.

We’ve carried out around 400 intranet evaluation and benchmarking exercises in major organisations worldwide.   Our Members include Amgen, AT&T, Avon, ExxonMobil, IKEA, ING, Kroger, Liberty Mutual, PNC Bank, Vattenfall and Verizon, with many members renewing each year with IBF because of the value they gain from our services.

How to Join

It is easy for your organisation to join one of four membership groups depending on where you’re based and organisation size (only major companies and public-sector organisations are eligible to join).

The Intranet Benchmarking Forum is a confidential, members-only intranet benchmarking group.

We are the leading authority on intranet and digital workplace performance and best practice.
